This paper investigates the potential of an image\udsensor that combines event-based asynchronous outputs with\udconventional integration of photocurrents. Pixels voltages can\udbe read out following a traditional approach with a source\udfollower and analog-to-digital converter. Furthermore, pixels\udhave circuitry to implement Pulse Density Modulation (PDM)\udsending out pulses with a frequency that is proportional to the\udphotocurrent. Both read-out approaches operate simultaneously.\udTheir information is combined to render high dynamic range\udimages. In this paper, we explain the new vision sensor concept\udand we develop a theoretical analysis of the expected performance\udin standard AMS 0.18mm HV technology. Moreover, we provide\uda description of the vision sensor architecture and its main blocks
